 VP Joe Biden: Useful idiot?

I can't avoid talking about Joe Biden because he can't avoid talking himself into trouble.

In the first 3 months of his Vice Presidency, Joe Biden has attempted to cause panic over swine flu, disclosed classified information regarding the VP's secret bunker, forgotten the "website number" of the federal program he's in charge of, and stretched the truth about being shot at in Bosnia.  And that's not even counting the numerous gaffes he made before inauguration.

 But is there a method to his madness?

 Allow me to speculate wildly.  Suppose now that President Obama wants to release information on a "trial balloon?"  He could tell Biden, who instinctively would run for the cameras and microphones and retell the information.  If the public recoils, the Obama Administration could say, "That's just Joe running his mouth again."

 So Obama may be able to use Joe to put out information that he can later deny.

That's just my theory.  We will see.  If I've spoken too speculatively, I'm still hundreds of gaffes behind Biden.
